Tips for The Industry
Some tips for the industry are to always make a positive impression. Whether it is the janitor or an executive you want to make sure if people know your name, they have something positive to say about you.
-Also you never know who could be watching you- I don't mean that in a creepy way. I mean that someone from another company or different department could see your hard work and dedication and that could advance you to the next step in your career. But that can also be spun negatively.
-Take the time to get to know someone. A relationship doesn't happen after one meeting. Ask about their kids, family, pets, hobbies, favorite movies or music and REMEMBER. Next time you see that person, ask for an update. People will feel very honored that you took an interest in their lives.
-Lastly be authentic. Don't force anything or try to fake relationships. Many co-workers admire integrity. Feel free to speak your mind, disagree, agree, fight for yourself and your department but do it so you are being authentic and respectful.
